Viral ostrich running loose in a subdivision in Quezon City passes away

One of the two ostriches that recently went viral online died according to the owner.

The two flightless birds caught the attention of the netizens after spotted running loose in a private subdivision in Quezon City, Tuesday, August 4.

According to Jimmy Antiporda, Spokesperson Undersecretary of Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the ostrich died because of “stress”, based on the owner named Jonathan Cruz.

However, Antiporda will still call Cruz to explain about the incident and collect proof on where the said ostrich buried.

The large flightless birds were from Misamis then supposed to be transferred in Nueva Ecija, based to the travel permit presented by Cruz.

The report puzzled the DENR on why the ostriches were in a subdivision in Quezon City. Their address is Balingasa but spotted running loose in Mapayapa village.

Also, Cruz voluntarily surrendered the other ostrich to DENR then handed in the Biodiversity Management Bureau rescue center.
