Blackpink made history as the first K-pop group to perform as headliners at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, April 16, 2023.
The South Korean girl group performed their popular hits, including “Black Venom,” “Kill This Love,” “How You Like That,” “Boombayah,” and “Lovesick Girls.”
The members also showcased their individual talents by performing songs from their solo albums. Jisoo sang her recent solo debut, “Flower,” while Jennie performed “You And Me.” Rosé wowed the audience with her emotional ballad, “On The Ground,” and Lisa brought the house down with her rap performance of “Money,” which featured her dancing on a stripper pole.
Blackpink’s Coachella performance was not only a milestone for the group but also for K-pop as a whole. It proved that K-pop can transcend language and cultural barriers and appeal to audiences of all backgrounds. The group’s success at Coachella also opened doors for other K-pop acts to perform at major music festivals around the world.
The group’s performance at Coachella was just one of the many highlights of their successful career. In addition to their Coachella performance, Blackpink has also held concerts all over the world, including a recent concert in the Philippines where Lisa celebrated her birthday. Their fans, known as “Blinks,” have supported the group every step of the way, and their loyalty and dedication have helped Blackpink achieve unprecedented success.
Past headliners at the festival include Beyonce, Harry Styles, Lady Gaga, Guns N’ Roses, and AC/DC, among others. This feat marks Blackpink’s second time performing at Coachella.
