Hollywood actress Vanessa Hudgens is currently in the Philippines to shoot a travel documentary about her Filipino heritage. She has been visiting various places in the country, including El Nido, Palawan.
Vanessa posted photos of her enjoying Pangulasian Island Resort on her Instagram account, captioning it as “Paradise” and adding “#philippinesforever.”
Last Tuesday, Vanessa took an early morning hike in Palawan. She shared a photo on her Instagram account with the caption “5am hike to the top of the world” along with the hashtags #Philippines and #Palawan.
The travel documentary that Vanessa is shooting revolves around her Filipino heritage and her family’s journey to the United States. The still-untitled documentary will feature Vanessa’s relationship with her mother Gina – who left the Philippines for the United States when she was 25 – her sister Stella, and Vanessa’s own journey to becoming a Hollywood star. Shooting began in March in Manila and Palawan, where Vanessa is visiting for the first time.
Vanessa has always been proud of her Pinoy roots and hopes to share her story with the world. In a statement, she said, “I feel like ours is such a relatable story to so many women all over the world. The more that we can share, the more we can lift each other up.”
The travel documentary is somewhat a fulfillment of what Vanessa shared in a 2021 Glamour UK interview wherein she hoped Gina would write a book about immigrating to the United States so it could be turned into a film.
